Accounts in Drug Discovery describes recent case studies in drug discovery and in particular how problems were overcome. In particular, the case studies were selected to cover a broad range of topics including: diverse disease areas (oncology, cardiovascular, metabolic disorders, inflammation, anti-infective agents, GI and urinary disorders); first-in-class vs. follow on compounds; leads compounds that were derived from multiple sources including screening, structure-based design, and follow-ons; successful marketed drugs as well as those that failed prior to or at registration that are rarely communicated in such a compendium. The issues to be addressed, both in Discovery and in the Clinic, will survey those commonly faced by researchers in the field including: metabolism and pharmacokinetics, toxicology, pharmaceutics, and proof of concept for the biological target.
